ceramic coating for head gasket?

Hello I have an 03 supe crew 5.4 and the head gasket is going, Was looking at a crate motor and swap them out. But a friend of mine was telling me about some kind of ceramic chemical you dump in after cleaning out the engine completely of coolant. Then flushing water through it. After dry you dump this chemical in and wait 24hrs. Add fluids like normal and good to go all for about $300-$400. Does anyone know about this, or have experience with it? Im just curious, it sounds a little to good to be true. Thanks

I used a product called engine weld quite a few years ago on a Nissan truck.
It actually worked, only lasted about 6 months though
Not sure if it still available but a google search should find you something
Not the best repair but it might buy you some time

I have had pretty good luck with this stuff. YOu can add to the antifreeze and its only $10. I tried the drain and seal and let it dry stuff you talk about. Problem is a year later it has a small pin hole and you have to do it again. The copper seal stays in the radiator and keeps on working. I still have to drain, flush and refill and add the copper about once a year. For $10. you cant go wrong.

Does it seem to take care of it for the most part? And also is the timing chain relativley easy to change on these enginges and when should it be done, I have been told different things about it and am curious what you guys have experienced or believe. Im trust trying to weigh everything before making my decision on this. I do plan on keeping the truck.

The copper seal is BS crap. Tried it, didn't work. In my opinion, if you have a head gasket leak, you need to remove the head, get it resurfaced, and get a new gasket. The only other solution is if you don't plan on keeping the truck, add the snake oil and drive it till it dies.
