big block/diesel c6 behind 351w
Ok so my 89 F250 351w had a 5 speed originally but the PO swapped in a c6. The c6 bell housing is either diesel or big block and hangs down below the oil pan. How is this possible? Could this cause my 7mpg and poor performance? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Yes it was my understanding that a bbf and diesel c6 is much different than a small block pattern. However the bell housing on the transmission has bolt holes down below the oil pan of the motor. The bell housing hangs down about 4" past the bottom of the engine . Any idia how this might be rigged in there? And would it be better to just find a sbf c6?

Yeah just to put this in perspective when I got the truck the reverse lights were on a toggle switch, the clutch pedal and neutral safety switch are still there, and my kickdown switch was a choke cable on the dash. so there are some things that were done that shouldn't have been. Thanks for all the quick replies I feel a zf5 swap coming.

Ok sorry no picture but I went out and looked again and its not 4" below the oil pan. The bell housing is flush with the oil pan and there are 2 empty bolt holes at the very bottom of the bell housing. Is this how it should be? Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to ford trucks. All my experience is in antiques and Saab.
