any ideas to figure out "true" mileage?

My 86 odometer says 43k, but I naturally assume 143k. The floors are rotted of course, but the seat, steering wheel, shift ****, window cranks, etc, all show very little wear.

The motors covered with oil of course but nothing looks newer like its been replaced.

I got it from the original owner....he was hauling it to the scrap yard, blew a tire on his tow dolly, and left it at my neighbors for a couple days so I made him an offer to save him a trip to Bangor.

Anyways, all I have is a BOS and no info about miles, like from a title or registration.

The oil pressure switch was bad so the guage didn't go up is the main reason it was headed to the crusher FYI.

But thanks for any info to figure it out!!

Pay $25 and get a car fax report. If you do not have a title, are you just going to use it for parts?

There's no conclusive way to tell. Judge overall condition and make a guess. You could always do a compression test on the engine and if it's good then it may be low miles.

I agree with Dave, without a title it's going to be hard to get it on the road. I used to be able to deal with stuff like that but even older motorcycles are a PITA now. I have a Suzuki dual sport 350 that I bought as a no title dirt bike, paid like it was a no-title dirt bike and figured I could work my magic and have a nice little putter for around town. No dice. One of these days I'm going to do an involuntary transfer through the courts just to polish my legal tools up a bit. I bought the bike in NJ and as a dirt bike they don't title them so as a dirt bike with all the DS stuff removed there's no legal requirement to have a title. You just use a bill of sale.

Up here any vehicle older than a 94 or 95 I believe doesn't need a title, just a bill of sale.

And I'm putting this baby back on the road!!

I love smelly, rough riding, noisy old trucks LOL...they have character.

I was gonna swap a 5.0 but the 300 runs great and since it does indeed have good oil pressure and no knocks or smoke I'm gonna burn up some fuel with that for awhile. The floors and supports are gonna keep me busy for awhile I'm afraid!

But this'll be good for dump runs and putting around for the summer..
I wanna keep it out of the winter salt as this still has good solid fenders and wheelwells on the bed, surprisingly. Which is actually the number one reason I bought it.

I didn't think carfax worked on older vehicles, but I will check that out!

Thanks!!
