Blue Smoke and 1.5qts low on oil - Need help
My 2005 PSD has started to blow blue smoke, especially when accelerating from a stoplight/stop sign. I checked the oil today and it was not on the dipstick, so it took 1.5 quarts of oil to get it back on there. I now know I'm burning oil from somewhere. I've read that it could be a seal in the turbo. My turbo was replaced under warranty 2.5 years ago with a 2007 model, but I've not had any boost problems lately.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
BTW, I use Rotella 5W40 Syn, fuel additive at every fillup, and just ran 4 oz of Rev-X for the fun of it even though I wasn't having any stiction issues.

Thank you all for the replies! The truck is going under the knife on Monday to update all the parts that have changed from Ford/International including a BPD EGR cooler. I'll have the mechanic check for the "oil swirl" in the downpipe. If it is the turbo causing this, how hard of a fix is that? Or will I need a new turbo?

Hey DC, this is what my truck looked like when I broke the shaft in the turbo. It blew 1 1/2 gallons by the time I got it parked at a hotel.
I'm sure my housing was shot,,, but I looked for a rebuild kit that included the shaft,,, couldn't find one.
But there are rebuild kits for a blown oil seal.

That makes my day to know that there are rebuild kits for the blown seal. Do you know where I can get one? Thanks for your help.
