tech at cavalier said he was able to grab the pinion after disconnecting the driveshaft and wiggle the pinion a good 1/4" in any direction he moved it.. said even during a pinion seal swap the other tech should have noticed that much looseness..

I bet that wiggly pinion is what took out the seal and made it leak in the first place. Amateur mistake on their part, or they knew it was bad and were setting you up for failure.
