engine power
i know factory power numbers are like 165 hp and 245 ib-ft for the fuel injected inline sixes but anyone ever dyno one to see what they actually make i thought i seen one in the big six forum that made 215 hp and 300 ft-ib but cant be for sure

Yeah, and you take all the smog stuff off, you might gain 2-3HP. It's not the smog stuff that chokes those engines, it's the engine itself.
You can build them to make decent power, but it's a lot of work.

yeah i now know what you mean with the 180 degree heads and stuff. even still i've beat srt8 chargers off the line. they caught up fast but i still had them off the line

Seriously, my '85 was obviously down on power compared to the last EFI issued motors, but I was running across town once with my SIL following in her 4 cylinder 5er old Toyota PU. I ran my van WOT and shifted as fast as I could. I mentioned to her that I was going as fast as I could go. She said she didn't notice.

Probably because they didn't realize you were racing, or they tipped slowly into the gas to avoid spinning the tires. Chargers will obliterate the tires if you punch them off the line. The 6.1/6.4 makes more power and torque than your 4.9 at any engine speed, and they weigh a deal less.

thats what the trick is tennagers dont know how to race. the guy smoked the tires off the line then hooked and later told me that made him shift into second (it was an auto) i then beat him in my grandmas pontiac g6 about a month later at the same red light. chargers are fast but in a street race driver skill plays a huge roll.

You beat him off the line because he was texting and didn't notice the light turning.......

wow that 85 had to be really down on power my 4.9 will run with my grandpas 5.9 magnum in a dodge dakota, which are about the same weight as a bone stock charger, then i hit the limiter and he keeps going(reflashed ecu makes it do about 160)

No it won't. Even a 302 will walk all over a 300 towing. The 302 will make a lot more noise and complain more, but it will out-tow it. More torque, more power. Dakota R/T 5.9s are about as fast as the original F-150 Lightnings - which are much faster than 4.9 powered trucks.

TRUST me my grandpa and i have compared the two. two 16 footers stacked with wood up to the 4 foot sideboards and towed up the same hardly ever used hill side by side my 4.9 kicked the **** out of his 5.0 and the 5.0 is 2 years younger than the 4.9 just killed the f+++ out of the 5.0 wanna know why his lame A++ 5.0 had to DOUBLE downshift to get up that hill and when that happened he lost all his forward progress and lost 25 mph the we started up the hill at roughly 52 mph (no not 55 mph) meanwhile my 4.9 just had to shift out of overdrive to get up the thing and it went over the hill at a tick under 50 mph. went to the community scales in town right after and his traile= 10,235 pounds mine = 10,167 pounds he also had 3.55s compared to my 3.08s and his was rated to tow 1500 more pounds than mine this are both half tons and i dont really care that they were both overloaded by at least a ton and a half so dont waste your life telling me this. also my grandpa beat a lightning f150 so the 5.9 magnum is faster

what year lightning, cause the 97's have the supershargers and from 95 to 92 was normaly asperated 5.8l. It's probebly be true due to the lightning spinning the tire's for 200 feet.
