Convert from carb to EFI

I found a good buy on a complete running 302 motor today, and since my 92 is in need I'm thinking of buying it. Only thing is that it is from an older truck with a carb, mine is an EFI motor. Would I be able to transplant the intake, sensors and wiring harness off my motor onto the older one and have it work properly?

It should all transfer over. If the carbed engine has a fuel pump on the timing cover you will need to either swap timing covers or get a block of plate. Also is the carbed engine running a serpentine or V belt system. It will affect the flow of the water pump. Also depending on the year of the carbed 302 you may need a new flex plate. Pre 1982 302's were 50oz imbalance while the latter were 25oz. Just somethings to consider.

Yes, the waterpump depends on the belt setup. Forward for V-belts and Reverse for Serpentine.

I'm assuming you have a non-running engine to start with. Swap the serpentine setup and front cover from the 92 over. I would change the gaskets on the oil pan, valve covers, front cover, intake, etc. You can leave the head gaskets, they should be fine. I would also get a new oil and water pump. Standard flow is fine but the WP needs to be for the 92 even though the engine is older.
