tearing apart motor

im tearing down my old 302 and ive got the upper and lower intake out, water pump valve covers and all accessories.. all thats on there now are the heads, timing cover, motor mounts and the crankshaft.. the distributer is removed as well.. im trying to get it down to the block cause i have to get it bored.. but i cant get anything else to come off.. how do i get the rest off? do i need to pull of the rocker arms?

take off the front cover remove the timing chain and gears, then remove the rockers and push rods. then remove the lifters and remove the head bolts to remove the heads.

cover wont budge and one side of the heads has everything but 4 bolts and the springs

cover is held on by rtv usually. try to gently pry it loose by using a putty knife around the edges. are the 4 bolts large and going into the block?

yah they go down towards it so most likely, but the wont budge and i dont have an impact

those are the head bolts. use a breaker bar to loosen them and throw them away they shouldn't be reused I have heard.

well i plan on either scrapping or selling the heads.. i cant find anyone round here that wants to buy em so im basically scrapping everything except for the block and intake..

ah ok but I would keep the old ones in case you need them some day down the road.
