Fuel bowl re-build:do i need a new bowl heater see pic

I'm doing a full fuel bowl rebuild and the element on the fuel bowl heater looks like none of the pictures i have seen is it bad?

I just cleaned up what I had and reinstalled it in the fuel bowl. As far as the look of what you have, I have to defer.

It is most likely still ok. If the element was grounding to the plate, you'd already would have known and had a blown fuse from it.

jmo , i would let replacement cost play a roll in that one. could be a piece of mind thing. although, it is a week link that many of us just delete.

Rock Auto has them in Dorman for ~$32. O'Reilly also has, or can get, them for ~$52. Riffraff is ~$42. http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/mm5/me...ode=F731-FS-FB They are all the new style.

so is the one I have an old style? all of the ones I've seen look like the one pictured in the link to riff raff above. Just wondering as the element on mine looks much thinner than the ones I have seen.

Yes, yours is the old style. The new style is shown to be a direct replacement for all 7.3 powerstrokes.
