i have a few computers layin around and its been a while since ive been on this project. . .i can find a few but cant find them all.

some help would be appreciated. i suspect its out of a 460, which is what i want. thanks in advance.

Thank you sir. Is there any way to determine which ignition module was used (gray or black) by the codes alone?

Seeing as how the catch-code is typically only three characters, it's not going to tell you much, in and of itself. But once you determine what model year it's from, you should be able to figure it out from there. I think '94 was the first year for the black TFI, but not sure if the change-over from gray to black was consistent with the model-year change.

Ford did not start using the black colored ICM CCD-style Ignition system on these trucks until 1994. Your truck uses the gray colored Push-Start ICM. The PCM you are referencing is listed for use on a 1991 F-series truck therefore it is designed for use with a Push-Start style ignition (gray ICM).

thanks for the replies. i cant remember what i got all these out of, but im positive the 460 comp was a brick nose, so that solves that.
