VIN Again

Hello guys/gals. I have a '70 F-700 Dump that I use for farm duties. The brakes were never "road worthy" but now they're completely out. I surfed around a bit and saw a couple guys that can decode the brake type via the VIN. My VIN is F70EV(I think)Y50817, Under that is....

WB = 158
Color = T
Type/GVW = F704
Body = 418
Tran = 0
Axel = 53M

Under that, On the bottom left of the tag is 24000. On the bottom right is 211355.

I need to replace the Master Cyl. for sure, But I can't find one. It has a casting # on the side........FE 207.

I THINK a NAPA PN NMC M78314 is the correct one, But would like one of you guys to check me out. Here's a link to the MC.

NAPA AUTO PARTS

I've copied the relevant bleed procedures and will bleed them CORRECTLY this time

Thanks in advance.

Phillip

Impossible, the VIN has very limited info. By the last 6 digits of the VIN (serial number), this is a 1977.. not a 1970!

VIN: F70EVY50817

Warranty Plate: W.B. 158 / Color: T / Type/GVW: F704 / Body: 418 / Trans: O / Axle: 53M / GVW: 24000 / DSO: 211355
Compare the VIN on the Warranty Plate to the VIN on the registration to see if they match.

People replaced damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they failed to install the original Warranty Plate on the replaced door.

F70 = F700 (gas).

E = 361 2V or 4V FT Engine.

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

Y50817 = 1977 / 1970 serial number range: G30,001-J70,001 / 1977 serial number range: O05,001-O99,999 & X80,001-Z25,000.

158" Wheelbase.

T = Candyapple Red.

F704 = F700 (gas), 24,000 lbs. GVWR

418: 41 = Black all Vinyl / 8 = 81A Standard Cab.

O = Fuller model T905-B 5 Speed Direct or New Process model 542-FL 5 Speed Direct.

53M: 53 = Rockwell-Timken model H170 Rear Axle / 6.14-1 / 17,500 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity // M = 7,000 lb. Capacity Ford Front Axle with P/S.

24,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

211355:

21 = Atlanta GA Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

1355 = Domestic Special Order Number. FoMoCo sent the truck out after it left the assembly line to have special equipment installed per the original purchasers order.

To find out what the special equipment was, you'll have to contact martiauto.com, as Marti has all the original 1967/79 FoMoCo records.

Thanks ND. I'll check the registration and get back to you. Is there any other place the to look on the truck for the VIN?
