5spd tranny 1995 psd 7.3

Well the other day i was driving out of town on the high way randomly my tranny was making a bunch of noise so i pulled over and, it wouldn't smoothly go into any gears and neutral when i let the clutch out was 2nd gear, i let it sit for a few minutes got better so i waited an hour or so then drove it home and changed tranny fluid that night, do you think that it just over heated? there wasn't a bunch of metal in the old fluid was pretty nasty though, and a little low. any thoughts on why it did this and any damages it could have caused?

Do you still have the original dual mass flywheel?

Could it of been your throw out bearing making all the noise?

Not a cheap trans to fix on. Replaced the D/M flywheel, new clutch and t/o bearing for mine @ 88k miles, those flywheels are not a good thing. Customer let one go too far and broke off a piece of the engine block.

ZF 5 sp.

Replaced my D/M flywheel w/a LUK kit. Sounds like that's what's up with your rig, and it sounds like the trans just might have a problem. I hate paying for fixing on a ZF.
