Turbo Ranger
I am thinking of doing a turbo install on my '95 2.3L 5spd. extended cab XLT Ranger. The plan is one of two things, either get this '88 Turbo Thunderbird for $800, not sure what condition this engine is in. Or buy a new turbo kit for around $1650 and use the original engine with 120,000 miles on it. Here is the delema, if I use the ThunderBird, everything comes with it. It could easily gernade on me at any point in time, but I would keep the original engine and trans in case this happened. But there could be any number of problems with this donor car. I t could cost more in the long run. I'm told with the engine I have now it would be safe to run up to 5-7 psi of a turbo. On a 114 hp engine will I be happy with this little boost? But I could get the new turbo now and run it like this untill I save up for a new "turbo" engine $1380. Then run the full boost.
Anybody running a turbo on thier Ranger? Got a dynosheet?
What kind of power will this make;
orgin. 2.3L w/ 5-7psi boost?
used 2.3L from Thunderbird at full boost?
Thanks for any help.
Anybody got something like this for cheap?
