motor mount sits too low if lowered

i recently bought a 56 i'd like to lower the front and back a few more inches. the motor mount looks like it will hit the front axle if i lower two inches. i haven't read anyone else having this issue. the front leafs look to been reduced to 5 so it sits a little lower than stock, i think

Without pictures, it's hard to tell. But it honestly sounds like you're already at your limit, and probably past it. Are you saying that the engine is 2 inches above the straight axle right now as it sits? Those front leaf springs cannot stand to be weakened any more than they already are after almost 60 years.

Welcome to FTE!

To put pics in your post, they must first be somewhere on the Internet. I use Photobucket, but there are others.

Here's one way to post pics.

Go to http://photobucket.com/ and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

It looks really close. Another two inch's would have to be achieved by probably using a dropped axle IMO. Or go the IFS way.

I agree with yamagrant, looks like someone mounted the engine more rearward than typical, plus lowering it another 2" with spring work will put the sway bar on top the springs. You could move the engine forwards, or replace the engine mounts with frame mounts to eliminate the tube.

Get rid of that bolt-in crossbar mount and weld up some real motor mount stands to the frame.
