look for 1 thing...find another....
hey guys/girls
i love my 54 f-100 and i'm always cruising craigslist, swap sheets and country back fields for parts i need. the other day i was looking for a chev/gmc truck to put my 383 stroker/700r4 373 posi into...just to get it out of my barn. i need more room to spread out my 54 effie. so, i followed up on a response i had to an ad and there it was!!! no, not what i really wanted but close. the 56 gmc was a great "50 footer" but as i got closer, it got worse and worse. some p.o. had slathered bondo over tin patches then sprayed red oxide flat primer all over it. definately not for me....BUT right next to it was a 61-62 swb unibody! not in any worse shape but mostly there. that, as far as i know, is a rare find. i have to keep telling myself that i already have 4 projects going, DON'T DO IT!... well, i didn't thank god, my wife would have killed me. on the way back to my truck to get out of there before i did something stupid, i see a trailer next to another truck. its an old truck box and fenders---so good and clean, it was even liscensed. on closer inspection its a mid fifties dodge!!! both fenders very good, tail gate all there and functional.. box sides with just surface rust. the bed was covered w/ plywood but SO WHAT. a friend, yesterday, showed me a 51 dodge cab and chassis w/ good front fenders and grill. he had given up on finding the box years ago. i can't wait to tell him and show him the pix i took.
so, everybody out there KEEP LOOKING. you never know what u will find....what have you found that didn't exactly fit what u were looking for ?
