I was running 2 1000 watt amps and 4 10" JBL power series subwoofers off of the stock 2G. I always run a capacitor though. It worked just fine. I'm currently only running one 1000 watt amp and 2 subs and everything's still good.

I had a 500 watt amp running off my 2G with no capacitor, and I had dimming headlights and a fairly large voltage drop when it was running. Do the 3G swap, not only for upgrading your audio system, but for making your electrical system safer and more reliable.

It will work, sorta, but I wouldn't recommend it. I would upgrade the electrical system before the sound system.

I never said you couldn't buy the stuff. Go ahead and grab your audio equipment and get it all hooked up. It WILL work. I'm just saying you might see dimming headlights and voltage drops. BUT, the first thing you will want to do after you get it all done with is the 3G swap. If you have a local pick-n-pull or something like it, the 3G swap can be done for ~$75-$100 and is well worth it. That's what I did. I ran with dimming headlights and voltage drops for about 6 months before I learned about the swap.

What engine does your truck have? One from RJM certainly wouldn't disappoint.

I hooked it up to just test without a cap when I had one sub in it and one amp to make sure everything worked and that made it dim out at idle really badly. So I wouldn't recommend it.
