Mustang tank...which sender works with orig gauge

Guys and Gals,
I am putting the 69 mustang gas tank in my 50 F-3. Has anyone used the mustang sender and will it work with the original '50 fuel gauge?

My understanding is that the Ford gauges were the same for decades. The 12V gauges from 1956 into the 1980s are actually 6V gauges with a voltage regulator. The stock mustang sending unit likely will work.

1965/68 Mustang & 1967/68 Cougar have a 16 gallon tank, use the same sending unit: C8ZZ-9275-C

1969 Mustang/Cougar has a 20 gallon tank, uses a different sending unit than 1965/68: DOWY-9275-A
