I have a '04 f150 4x4. Please see picture of the hose. I want to replace it because it’s made out of that foam like material and is starting to fall apart and crumble. It runs from the passenger side intake manifold-behind the throttle body and plugs into another apparatus on the driver side. I know that’s a great description would it be possible to some rubber hose from the auto parts or should it be the factory set up?

That line is part of the evaporative emissions system, and the part on the cowl is the vapor management valve. I do electronic engine control work at a dealership and have never had to replace one, never saw one fail. If the original lasted 9 years, I'd say that isn't too bad, but keeping the engine compartment clean would probably make things last longer.

The hose carries fuel vapor, so any replacement hose would have to be fuel rated.
