04 4.6 oilling issue, in a mustang
I know of an 04 stang with a 4.6.
Owner says, "It runs, but not getting any oil to top end. Chattering like hell. I would like to fix it and keep it but dont have the time or the funds. I have checked the oil pump and it is working properly."
Thinking about looking at it but I am kinda perplexed about his explanation of oil pump working but chattering like hell. Hoping for a E Z fix for a nice car. I am gonna contact him and ask a couple questions. Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Have'nt heard anything from him yet so that is all the info I have

Well, an oil pump isn't too expensive and really isn't all that difficult to swap out. The downside is that it might not fix the problem and you have no real way to know how long it's been that way, how or if it's been driven that way or what other potential damage there might be. The 4.6 isa great motor and will take being tortured but without the life blood pumping through the veins, bad things happen.

It prob has a piece of oil filter trapped in the orifice in one of the cylinder heads. Cheap aftermarket filters have glue that bonds the media to the cardboard end caps and this glue can break apart and go through the engine. In each cylinder head there is a small orifice that all the oil going to that head must flow through. They are machined into the first cam cap on the driver's side and the last cam cap on the pass side.
