killing carrier bearings
I have been killing carrier bearing regularly ever since I bought my truck. The bearing always wears out. When I dismantle the bearing, whatever is left of the grease is hard and the roller ***** are dry.
Here is the timeline
Bought with 164k miles all stock suspension.
180k miles replaced bearing with part store.
200k miles replaced bearing, 2ujoints and balanced
218k miles replaced bearing from different parts store
225k miles installed traction bars and stage 1 injectors
228k miles replaced bearing from rockauto
237k miles all ujoints and bearing replaced professionally and balanced
I'm at 251k miles and the bearing is about to need replacing again.
The shifter doesn't move under power like it would if a motor/trans mount was blown.
There are no dust/splash shields on the carrier bearing, don't know if you can even buy them, the ones that come with all the carrier bearings I installed never fit.
Would really like to stop spending money on rear driveshaft.
Any ideas?, i have exhausted the OBS PSD guys already
