Why on 18 in wheels if you order the Camper Package

Can anyone tell me why Ford only offers the 18in wheels if your order the camper package?

The 18" wheels have a higher load rating which must be utilized for the extra weight of a camper.

Thank you very much.
I thought that might be why. I guess if you chose to do so you could still go with a 20 inch wheel, correct?

Not sure. Haven't tempted myself with a 2013 F350 lately.

Are you sure? Ford sold a camper package and heavy weight ratings for years and years using just 16" wheels. I don't see how it would be a wheel rating issue, unless it was just a result of a lack of 17" tires with the proper load rating. I haven't shopped for any 17" tires, so I don't know what's available.

Looking at the Ford Build and Price you can get the camper package on an XL/XLT with 17" wheels. 18" wheels are optional on the XLT and standard on the Lariat. The Camper package is not available with 20" wheels.

The payload and tow ratings back when 16" wheels were standard were much lower than they are today.

You sure? I though I read this about the 18" wheels and the camper option. Maybe on the 250 18" are optional but on the 350 18s are standard due to the "increased" carrying capacity of the 350? I swear I read this about the 18" wheels haha
