Yea...i dont think much about that. I just assume everybody has a welder.i would cut and tig the sections and have the finished product powdercoated. If you cant weld just clamp the sections together and mark and take and have them welded....maybe?

That makes sense I could see about doing that according to summit the rad for a 351w and a 460 are the same this doesn't seem right can any one else confirm this?

According to rock auto they have the same p/n so i could use the rad from the 351w and just get new hoses.

So on to a new round of questions:

Could i use a flexible hose from summit so theres no need for welding?

What would it hurt anything if i went with a reservoir instead of a surge tank?

There must be a different part number for the super cooling option. Is it the 2 row rad? I see a 1 row rad and a 2 row rad it also has a built in tranny cooler.

Dude, find you a dsl rad support donor, all you need to be good on it is the center section. Mine was bad where it bolts to the frame. I bought a gas rad support and cut the center sections from both, weld the dsl section to the new, and you have a new support. This is an easy fix for even a novice DIYer. I wish I had taken pics when I did mine. I am not convinced that the dsl without ac support is not the same. I would have to see one to believe it.

That is too bad cause it is an easy fix. If you have a parts dealer that doesnt charge for shipping, get a diesel support for a non ac. It may have the correct center section.

If you end up deciding against the e-fans, give me a shout. I'm local and have three PSD fans (with the clutches) sitting in the loft of the shop. I'd be happy to let you have one for a reasonable price. I too, have been running no fan for a couple months and have had zero trouble with it, but in this weather, I'm obviously not using the A/C.

I'm not sure on the exact difference of the 2 rad supports, but if thickness is an issue, maybe consider a E-series radiator. They are single core and 1/2 the thickness of the trucks. I've seen some vans/box trucks pulling & working and they don't seem to have overheating issues.
