HELP!! Need info on bolts for engine to tranny

Hey everyone,

I've been away from the site for a while, but plenty of progress on the old '65 F100 (I'll upload some pics to a new thread tonight). I'm going to be putting the new (rebuilt) engine into the truck this weekend and need to know what bolts I use for connecting the engine to the transmission. Long story, but the old bolts are gone (I'll explain later).

I've looked in various print references and haven't been able to come up with a definitive answer as to the length and size bolts I need for this!

I'd really appreciate any help I can get with this!!!

Thanks guys!

Chris

What engine and transmission do you have in your '65 F100?

Hmmmm.....that might have been good information to include! It's the 352 and the cruise-o-matic (auto) transmission.

See if you can identify which bolts you need from this illustration. It looks like there is more than one type.

Once you specify the part numbers then the size can be determined in most cases.

The 20450-S bolt looks like a 7/16" x 14 x 1 3/8" hex head and it says 4 each of those. The 34808-S8 is a 7/16" washer. I assume lockwasher. I'm not sure about the 20546-S bolt.

20546-S8 .. Bolt, Hex Head, Grade 8, National Coarse Thread ~ 7/16" -14 x 2 1/2" / Standard (hardware) part numbers shown in pics usually do not list the complete suffix.

I'm trying at least. I would have guessed 7/16" -14 x [longer than the other bolt] but it's so much better to know details.
