'99 Super Duty Crew Cab Sub box

Took me awhile to decide how I wanted to do it. I moved the seat forward by flipping the brackets. That freed up a lot of room. I plan to mount the Amp differently. Like to encase it to protect all the wires and connections. Also I don't really like the Kicker grilles so looking for something better that would be more protective. All I am running is a Street Edge 4 channel amp bridged. Beats the hell out of the cab of my pickup with everything turned down. Alpine head unit and only 2 Boston Acoustic 4x6 speakers in the front doors. Plenty loud enough for me. I learned years ago when I was more into this type of thing that more isn't always better.

Incase anyone wants to do something similar heres the Dimensions.

1 back piece 60" X 17"
4 Sides 8 3/4"(base)X 11 1/2"(height)X 1 3/16"(top).
2 fronts 20" X 21 1/4"
2 tops 4" X 21 1/4"
2 bottoms 11" X 21 1/4"
All 3/4" MDF

Keep in mind I bought the speakers and then designed the box around them. You may need to adjust to meet the requirements of your subs. I used Kicker Comp 12".
I did cut the carpeted trim on the back of the cab wall. There is a formed "Bump" I cut out that is 4" or so by the length of the cab. I will have to build some sort of seat belt extensions too. I am toying with making a Plate to bolt to the cab mount hole that extends closer to the seat. Then attach the seat belt to that. Any suggestions? I think if the plate is thick enough it should be just as safe.
As soon as the weather warms I will encase the amp better and post a pic.
Thanks for reading.

Thats actually pretty clean. I like that a lot! After seeing how clean that was, kinda have to redo mine. Not really into flipping the brackets around though, but just drilling 4 new holes into the bracket and save some leg room. You might want to put a grill cover on those speaker to protect the back seat as well as the speaker itself. I didn't. Take a look.

I think it's time to do a little clean up

I didn't have to drill anything. There is a metal piece you flip around between the seat and the frame that bolts to the floor. Really easy and gained me a bit of room behind the seat. Speakers dont touch my seat. The kicker grills look stupid and I cant see how they protect very much being mostly open. Hopefully I'll see a set I want someday. Thanks for the response.

If they don't touch your golden then, I wouldn't do it either. Flipping the brackets isn't a bad thing either, I just wanted to make a simple job harder... I guess. haha

I friend of mine told me about it. He installs stereo's for a living and read about it. When I swapped it around I didn't tell anyone I did it to see if the Ex wife and kids noticed the loss of leg room. No one said a word. I still need to figure out the seat belt extension issue. rarely have anyone ride in the back anymore so I forget about it.

I don't really know how to put up a link that will take you to another thread, but if you go back to Super Duty & Heavy Duty go look up "Show me your BASS!!!" and go to the second page and look at clintusaf, HE did something for the seat belts. Think he just rebolted them, don't think you want to do that. You might be able to get an idea from him.
