Leaking Fuel Filter

I just replaced the fuel filter on my 1985 F-250 7.5L and now there is fuel leaking from the bottom of the filter (I think it's coming from where the fuel line meets the filter not where the the filter meets the carb). Have I over tightened? Missed an important step? I have never replaced an in carb filter before (new truck for me) and I suppose I could have done it wrong. Any help would be great, I'd rather not light this truck on fire...

Do you have electric pumps and installed the metal filter into the carb? If so, make sure you hold the filter with a wrench, and then use another wrench to tighten the fitting going into the filter.

The truck without electric pumps had a brass filter that fit inside the carb.

Over tightening the fuel filter can cause it to leak. They're brass/aluminum/whatever/crap that when tightened down just a little too far will allow the rolled bead on them that seals them to come undone.
