Will these fit my stock 74 mustangII?

I just received a new heidts crossmember, with new strut rods for my stock 74 mustang II ifs. I'm curious if I should return the strut rods and get these tubular lower arms if they fit..... Hoping to decide within the hour before auction ends......

The tubular, triangulated arms are definitely superior to the stock style with the strut arms. But there has to be a section of round tubing welded in the crossmember for them to fit into. If you don't have that, you'll have to get a pair and weld them in place. The tricky part is knowing where exactly they go without a jig to set it up in.

Wayne, wouldn't they just bolt through the holes already in my crossmember?

LIke this inner tube piece in this pic? I guess it's called a crossmember spacer...

Jason,

they do bolt thru those holes in the crossmember... and with those you can eliminate the strut rod...

here's what I did after some serious investigation

LATEST STUFF

and it all started here when I axed out the volare

Removing A Volare ClipandInstalling a Mustang II IFS Unitby John Niolon

hope it helps
all of this was done BEFORE all the after market folks started adding the gussets in their kits... that's why it looks homemade... it is ! you can do all the same reading.... just google 'strut rod elimination' and read all the stuff . It was a major topic back a few on the HAMB and other boards..

later

Yes, the lower arm will bolt up like you say, but that tube and gusset has to be welded in place through the crossmember. As I said before, you have to know exactly where that tube needs to be as its location is highly critical to having the geometry of your suspension correct. It's done at the factory in a jig. If you know someone who can help you do that without making as big a mess as the one you're trying to clean up, you'll be good to go.
