Help w/48" Lokar cable w/Holley + Offy(DP)
I've got a '84 F-150, Offy"DP", Holley carb. AND A HEATER BOX THAT IS SO PERFECTLY PLACED that I'm wanting to cut into the heater box jus so I can get this Lokar cable(48") and bracket lined up.
I'm looking for pics of the same set-up. Where the throttle cable has to "wrap around" and come from the pass.-side fender.
the #'s on the carb are, under the "barcode" 816581, under that is 1598, under that is "reman. by Holley" and under that is 64-5346.
It's a 2v Holley rebuild off an older p.u. that I found thru here. When sitting on the back bolt of the 2v it seems to sit low(too much angle on cable) and is too far out from carb to line up for a "straight pull" by the cable. If I raise it up a lil(my easy fix), it moves "in" to the carb and lines up for a "straight pull", but the "adjuster" that is sitting in the bracket wont let the carb"open up" all the way, or if screwed "out/back" to allow travel length to increase, then the heater box is in the way so the cable itself looks to have to bend too severely in order to fit past the box.

I had the same issue and my problem that the cable was bind up where the heater box was so i turned the carb the other way no driving issues what so ever and my throttle cable problem went away. A lot of people will tell you otherwise but i ran the carb the "right" way and now its sitting the "wrong" way, I did not see any differences on the way it sat.

Do you have the "C" or "DP" offy?
With the "C" i don't see any difference, but I'm not sure how things would go on the "DP". But yes, by turning(180 deg.) the carb/adapter plate(canton phenlonic 4v-2v adapter) I should be able to use the secondary tunnel instead of the primary for the 2v carb.
It's funny how a person get's sooo wrapped up in finding a fix that the obvious is overlooked.
