One thing about building a truck from so many different models and years, you never seem to stop swapping parts and looking for a better "fit" or option!

I know this is an old thread, but I'm curious, what is your wheel/tire combo size-wise? Looks killer!

On the hunt for a ZF5.... I was told there was two and one was the better choice, not sure of the numbers on them.

Is the close ratio 1317 the good one?

There are 2 styles with 2 ratings, the close ratio is used behind a diesel and the wide ratio is for gas motors. After that you have the zf42 and the zf47, I was told that these are torque ratings and are about 45% of the total amount of torque that they can handle. Zf42- 420lbs, Zf47- 470lbs. The next thing is that the small block zf has an internal slave cylinder and release bearing in one unit, mine cost $190 but its the metal version not the plastic one. The big block version has an external slave cylinder. If you see a 88or newer f450 thats getting parted out you can get a hydroboost system with a trany break.

Ok great thanks. I am on the hunt for one now. I had a guy try an convince me he had one, it was the diesel bolt pattern. Good thing I knew what I was looking at!

Been having some trouble with my truck. When cruising steady at 2000-3000 Rpm I am getting a steady popping sound coming from the exhaust.
Plugs are good, wires good, fuel pressure good.
I unhooked the vacuum advance and it went away completely. Hooked back up, did it again.

Any idea what would cause this??

429/ Quick fuel 780 vacuum advance carb

MSD vacuum advance dist.

What base timing are you running and hiw much mechanical advance? I'd verify advance with a dial back timing light
