Hitch question

This may be a crazy question but so far I cant find a answer. On my 08 F450 if you are looking at the rear of the truck on the drivers side, bolted to the side of the hitch where the hitch bolts to the chasis there is a cylinder that acts like a magnet. The cylinder is part of the hitch its not something someone just added. Does anyone know what this is and what its for. I cant seem to find the answer.

I've heard jokes about magnetic back bumpers, to catch parts that fall off.....never seen one in person, I always thought it was a Mopar thing.

The truck is at a local shop getting a lift put on it. Once I get it back I will post a picture of what Im talking about. But it us under the truck where the hitch bolts to the truck. Its bolted to the side of the hitch frame where the hitch bolts up.

Not a GPS tracker. Its the size of a softball. Its a steel and looks like it would have something to do with vibration but Im not sure.

kinda but its attached to the hitch where the hitch bolts to the chasis. Its the same color as the hitch. Also its moves. If you push on it, it will shake. Has the movement like a magnet in between 2 pieces of metal and the magnet is oppisite of the metal. I can only imaging when driving down the road its moving and shaking the entire time.

Its close to the shape of your picture but it has a hole in the center of it where a rod goes through it. It looks like it would be a vibration controller or something to that nature. I maybe way off but seems like it would obsorb vibations.
