I picked up a part for my 300 project

I picked up something for my 240/300 build. Been talking about it for a while but I finally got one. It's going to be a while before I get into the engine build ( got to finish the truck first ) . I'm just collecting parts here and there while I build the truck for it.

It's a Eaton H122 supercharger off a Shelby GT500 5.4L Mustang engine. It should help wake up the 240/300 engine a little bit.

I'm going to be removing these three vacuum nipples. Then I'll tap and plug the holes.

Wow, now THAT looks like a fun addition to any good build!

Yep it should peg out the ol fun meter on this build!

But I think I'm going to have to build some stronger motor mounts. I don't think the stock pieces would stand a chance with this on the engine.

I would say so!

What do you plan on doing for motor mounts?

I'm thinking about possibly using a pair of rear leaf spring shackles. I could cut them in half and weld each half to a plate. I think that would be a hell of a lot tougher then the stock mounts are.

I got that idea after seeing Autofab's motor mount's for the 80+ Ford trucks with a 300. But they don't make any 300 mounts for 70's trucks.

It draws air from the side and discharges on the bottom?

Yep, that's what it does.

I'm going to build an air filter box that will bolt to the supercharger inlet. And let me run a fairly large panel air filter with a slightly modified Street scoop on top of that.

I'm going to fabricate a mounting bracket to mount the Eaton high on the driver side of the engine. I'm going to run the outlet tube out the front. Then a 90 degree bend into an air to water intercooler that will be mounted up above the front of the engine. And then feed that into three Holley 350cfm 2V carbs.

Not that I don't think your build will be awesome when you are done (and I really like the concept), but why are you planning on an intercooler with a roots style blower? I know that having one with a turbo is pretty much a necessity, but I wasn't aware that roots style blowers generated enough heat to justify the performance drop you could potentially suffer by adding restriction and complexity to your setup.

Regardless, I can't wait to see your final product!

Well the Mustang guys don't call these HEATons for no reason! Any time you compress air, no matter how you do it, it generates heat. And I don't plan on just running 5 or 6 pounds of boost.

All the Eaton M112's ( Lightning & Cobras ) and the H122's ( GT500's ) came stock on an engine that had an air to water intercooler.

This one is a hybrid ( that's why it's an H122 instead of a M122 ) between a roots and a screw type blower. So it's a little more efficient then a standard roots blower. But I'm still going to run an intercooler.

Plus I also plan to run it on E85. Which is basically going to act like a chemical intercooler.

Gotcha. That's makes a little more sense now. Thank you for the explanation!
