If you've got spark, fuel, and compression, it's a pretty good bet that timing is your problem.

BTW, there is no cam sensor, so get that idea out of your head.
Perry b .........

Have you tried leaving the distributor cap off and turn the engine over to see if the rotor is spinning ????

And..............

Silly enough question.............
Is the firing order (on the distributor cap) set to match the direction that the rotor spins ?????
(Been there done that one myself)

THis thread is a little old but I don't see a resolution.
Thought i would post my problem/fix.
My symptoms were exactly the saame, spark , fuel , checked TPS etc.
1. Should have had a HEI variable spark gap tester
2. Swapped MSD coil with my other truck , started and runs

Conclusion: Msd 8227 coil can show spark but is too weak to start engine.

This took a whole day to find as the MSD coil was only one year old so I didn't suspect it at all.

are you still having the same problem?? You should go by some starting fluid and see if it starts then.. I'm having the same issue it won't start and I have fuel and spark but won't start without starting fluid then it will run all day after that.. But it will still have major lack in power and run very rich.. I had no problems at all before this happened. The check engine light is on but it won't let me pull any codes. I can almost promise your having the same issue I am and I bet it will start will starting fluid. Mine is a 1988 f150 5.0

Did you ever try to start it with starter fluid?? I'm wondering if this would be the fix for me. Mines a 1988 f150 5.0 won't start got spark but it has only been tested with the light bulb spark tester and has fuel and fuel pressure.. Won't start at all without starting fluid but then it will sit there and idle fine all day but has lack of power until warm.

First let me state that I have been reading this forum for years and would like to thank all of the contributors because I have been silently repairing my 1987 Ford f-150 302 EFI due to the sheer volume of info on this forum...now it is time to join and get my feet wet.

This thread is exactly what I am experiencing with my truck. My question is...is there a way to check the condition of the spark without buying a new one to then swap?

I, too, have a new coil ..forgot the brand..the bright yellow one, not even a year old yet. I ran some errands last Sunday and when I came into the driveway, my old girl just quit just like you turned off the ignition.

So, not to get into the weeds, just yet... she has the same symptoms as everyone on this thread have stated...so, again..same question and do I need to start another thread? thanks in advance..I love this place...
