Got the '54 Stripped, now the frame work begins

Hey guys, just thought I would show my progress. I've been busy with some time in between to work on the '54.

Here is the front clip off:

Then, with the help of a tractor, the cab:

Finally the bed and running boards:

When I took the cab off, I found several stress related cracks in the frame itself, tonight we got the pass. cab arm off and with the help of a great friend began to weld it back up. Ive found 1 pretty serious crack, it was almost all the way in half! The other 3 are less than an inch long. Very glad I went ahead and decided to strip it down.

Next I will grind off as much rust as possible and get several cans of satin rustolem.

And, over the Christmas break I picked up a nice little air cleaner and Holly 2bbl Carb for $50.

At the moment, I am a Happy Camper.

welp your off and running and a good place to start with repairing the frame . i bought a new replacement for mine , another 53 frame from dave boley for 200 as i thought mine was twisted . after i stripped it down and relieved it of all it's weight i discovered the the left front springs are weak thus the resulting 1 inch lean it had . live and learn so now i got the oe frame as a spare for whatever purposes ...... i had a 55 fairlane 2 door , then a 56 crown victoria skyliner , then a 66 buick special 2 door , a 64 impala ss , a 67 bucik gs vert , on and on , and still going . somewhere over 100 cars and trucks , not too mention the race cars , motorcycles , and the future will most likely hold even more . the current stable is my beloved , but in many pieces 53 effie , my 95 beater bird that is broken down at present , and the 52 customline 2 door sedan . it's a disease that once you get it you can never fully divest yourself of it .......

Well the frame is now totally welded and fixed up. We cut up the front bumper and used it inside the frame for strength. worked well! Now ill fix the shock mount, the leaf spring bushings and then time for paint!
