Indeed it is. No matter what happens to a jackstand, that tire will leave the plastic surgeon a little something to work with. Figurin' my wife will give them my insurance card and a PIC of Ryan Gosling and I'll be set in a year or two.

Yes, the jack stands are a little overkill but the ones that I was using were 50 years old made of stamped sheet metal and they wobbled when you hit something with a hammer (did lots of that with the spring pivot pins).

I'm surprised that nobody made a comment about the yellow Smartcar. My wife drive that so I can afford more truck parts.

Fuel prices aren't no joke. No grief from me for a having a DD you can afford to feed.

I'm not sure Grade 8 bolts are the appropriate fastener to replace rivets; structural bolts are a different metallurgy and are torqued to a stretch. The nuts in particular are heavier. You don't want to ever have to go back to re-tighten the girder bolts on a skyscraper.
Maybe some Lock-tite or peen the threads?

I thought that was the grand-kid's Power Wheels. OTOH, when it breaks down, you can just toss it into the bed of the pick-up to get it back home.
