68 f-100 long bed-short bed conversion?

i have a 68 f-100 long-bed i never looked but is there just a bolt on extender to make it a long-bed. i want to change it to a short-bed but i don't know if i need to cut 2 foot of the frame?it runs and drives with almost 500 horse its a truck i drive on weekends and at the drags.its a flood truck my dd bought it new in 68 and one night his friend was drunk and drove it into the pond at our farm.then it sat underwater for 3 years completely forgotten about till i snagged it while fishing and had to pay for it to be hauled out. i took the boddy and threw away all electronics engine and anything else affected by the water. it now has a 5.0 out of my old 89 mustang and a 5spd on the floor it had brand new paint when it went under.so not much exterior rust thank god.it still smells like fish though thx yall.......

Do you have a short box? I would not go to the trouble to cut one. If I was bent on going to a short bed and had nice cab & clip metal I would get a short box and a short bed chassis 65-72 and bolt it together and paint the bed.

So jowilker. Are you saying the chassis for a 65-72 are all the same ?
Because I have the same issue (a 68 long bed) but don't want to cut the
Chassis

How 'bout not cutting the frame and making it like a later model Supercrew? Crew cab with 5 1/2' bed? Like my 2003 Harley F150. There is someone who's done this on this Forum. Try the search engine top of this page and try to find it.

Cut the frame! It's not hard at all. I did it. I found a short bed for 100 dollars. The only thing after that was to get my driveshaft shorten. That cost me 250. I bet you that's alot cheaper and easier then buying a short bed chassis.
