Almost time to order, 2 quick questions

Been a long time coming, but I'm ready to order my new truck so I can get it when the snow season's over around here. Can't wait to see the Dodge go away. Got a few things on my mind I thought I could get answered here.

Does anyone have honest weights on a crewcab longbed 4x4 SRW 350, and a crewcab longbed 4x4 DRW F350? I've seen lots of numbers all over the place, trying to get and idea, I need to be within legal GVW on the truck, and I'm not quite sure 11,500 will cut it. My trailer is a "redneck" toyhauler 14k gooseneck with a 8 foot pop up on the very front, and sometimes a 5k Jeep on the back. No weight on it yet but I'd easily put it over 2k on the ball.........

Second question..........Does anyone one here have a picture of a Green Gem/ Grey two tone truck? Fords site has the colors so off its tough to tell. Want something different, but I've never seen one...................

Hi Scott,
Welcome to the 6.7 forum. With a full load of fuel and one passanger my truck is around 8400 lbs. Have not seen too many green/gray 6.7s. Please post some pics when you get your truck.

Can I suggest that you weight your current truck empty and then do it again loaded?

go to catscales.com and find one near you.

it will be so much easier that way then the guessing game.

They are all over the map because each of our trucks gets configured differently by us.

My f250 crew cab short bed weighs right at 9,000 lbs with my fifth wheel hitch in it and my aux fuel tank with 50 gal of fuel. I'd say your 350srw long bed would be very close to that equipped with all your stuff in it.

I'd have to agree with Joel on close to 9000#. I'm at 8800 fueled with my 5th wheel hitch, but I don't have an auxiliary fuel tank (just stock). I do have some heavy tires and wheels though.

Wow, 9000 lbs., that seems like a lot. I'll have to stop by the fertilizer plant this morning and weigh my truck again.

My bad, I was thinking about my '06, the '11 weighs a little more than I thought, I'm going to weigh it just to make sure.

I just got back from from running an errand and stopped by United Prairie to get the truck weighed.

The truck..

The scale ticket....

I have to say thanks to the people at United Prairie for letting me weigh my truck, they are so nice, and they sell me glyphosate real cheap! It's kind of a cool setup, you can stop by anytime and weigh something because they position the scale readout so you can see it through the window.

8200 without me and 3/4 tank of fuel, so I was pretty close to 8400 with me. The only things I carry in the truck are tow straps and a few tools, nothing in the bed except the rubber mat. Joel and Savage, you guys really had me going for a while.

I guess I didn't take me into account. I weight 200, so that brings me back to 8600#...but I'm a short bed. I can't believe my wheels and tires add that much weight. I know my companion is over 100#, rolling tonneau, I carry a lot of gear in my truck and a spare. So I think you are just bare bones and I'm over cautious and heavy.

Its hard to weigh a truck I don't own. I know what my dodge weighs, and its about on par with a single wheel 350. I do agree I need to get the trailer weight, but the camper is off it right now.

If the single wheels are weighing in at 8200 with just fuel and no people, thats a surprise. I was thinking the dually would be around that. I'm only asking because I'm on the fence between another dually or go back to SRW.

I need to do the math but i'm thinking the SRW is going to be maxed out with my setup. No real mods planned just a backrack and my 27" weather guard box that gets heavy fast.........

Thanks for the replies, I have a bit more thinking to do. Nobody has green and grey? Interesting.

My dually weighs in around 8800 lbs. empty if I remember correctly, it's been a year since I scaled it without my trailer attached.

Welcome Furg. I had questions about the pin weight on my toy hauler and a SRW setup. Take the 8500 lb average of what most of us weigh and then refer to the chart (The Attached) study it hard and will give you some idea of what you may need or not. Mike

The killer on that chart is that it's only max trailer weight. Far as max weight goes, I have no interest in going any higher than my current 14K GVW trailer. Thats still 1700# under max for the SRW, and well under the dually's capacity. That said, pin weight and truck GVWR become the issue. I'm 240# and when you add the back rack and toolbox with a few things, we'll just say the truck weighs 8500#. Only leaves me with 3k to fool with. My trailer is heavy on the pin, more so without the jeep on the back to help balance it out.

Guess I'll get the camper back on it and drag it to the scales to see what it really weighs. I'm confident it's going to be somewhere between 1900 and 2100.

As of now, I'm still leaning toward the dually since as far as price goes a SRW with 18's is $200 less than the dually, and if I would go to 20's, the dually is about $1100 less than the SRW. Not a DD, but SRW's do have their advantages.
