anti-freeze leak ?

I have a 08 f-150 with a 5.4. Started smelling anti-freeze in the cab, with that classic windshield haze of a leaking heater core.I don't have anything on the floor, nor is the engine heating up. Temp gauge is where it always is. This doesn't smell all the time.I just drove 4 1/2 hrs. with no problems.Any ideas, other than the heater core ?

Is the coolant low? did you just check the carpet, or did you check under it? the core, if its leaking, would run down the firewall and under the carpet.

My radiator busted a seam and I got a little smell in the cab but no haze. Not sure what you should hope for. The radiator is more expensive, but the heater core is very labor intensive

Carpet & pad are dry, fluid may be down slightly. Might be just be just starting to leak.Going to make a decision on what to do quick. Most likly get it fixed, not in the market for a new truck just yet.
