That's not an Explorer intake it's a 5.0HO intake which is a downgrade from the truck version. If you want to make this swap as simple as possible just put the truck intake on the donor motor.

The photo appears to be someone holding the Coil/TAB-TAD solenoid bracket. The coil is self-explanatory. The piece on the upper left with the round cap on top is the EGR Valve Regulator (EVR). The other two vacuum operated solenoids (upper center and right) are the TAB and TAD solenoids for the secondary air injection system. They will need to be connected electrically, otherwise you will get a CEL, but they do not have to be connected to vacuum.

Just because your area doesn't require it doesn't mean you don't need it. The computer is designed to operate with ALL those controls in place. If it's a '96 it's OBD-II and you WILL get a CEL and really crappy fuel economy. The computer will never come out of 'limp' mode and it will never read the O2 sensors for the fuel trim process. It will run on a set of static variables in the computer to make sure it will run to get it to the shop.

You will not trigger an EGR related CEL because of removed catalyic converters or smog pump.

The EGR is a separate system yes. You will set EMISSIONS codes though that will make it run terrible.
