2013 F 150 and weight capacity’s

2013 F 150 and weight capacity’s question...

ecoboost engine, 4x4

compairing the XTR and the FX4 the FX has higher towing and GCWR numbers.

Dealer suggests the brakes, engine and tranny are the same.
So must be suspension.

But what are the differences?

If you are comparing the exact same trucks (wheelbase, engine, tow packages, HD/non HD, etc) the specifications should be identical or so close it wouldn't matter in real world driving. I just looked up on the Ford website, and there isn't a difference worth mentioning when it comes to payload or towing. Comparing 2 crew cab 4x4 trucks with the same motor and options (save the interiors or decals on the exterior), the towing capacities are going to be the same and payload may vary by 50-100lbs. Where were you getting your information?

Here's a link to Ford's F150 Towing Guide. In this you wont see much, if anything, about capacities based on models. It's cab/bed configuration, engine and 2 vs 4 wheel drive.

The website is hard to read. If you are dealing with the same cab size, bed size, drivetrain, Payload and towing related options, the GCWR/GVWR will only vary by a hundred lbs or so due to interior options.
