2014 Ford vs Ram Cargo Vans
The Chicago auto show is where Ford and Fiatsler are introducing the next generation full-size vans Many of us have heard of the Ford Transit (not the small Transit Connect that is already here) Econoline replacement, but this is the first time Ive seen a replacement for the Sprinter. GM may be selling a lot more G-series vans next year.

I agree, GM will probably see an increase in sales on their current van if they keep it around. These two offerings have that Eurotrash look and no V8 option. The Fiatsler front end is horrid looking. I doubt many will plunk down the cash for the EB. I still do not think the EB will take the neglect and abuse a the V8 engines took for a large amount of miles.

Yeah fwd on the Fiatsler will be a joke. Load 5k lbs in the back of that thing get on any type of incline and you spin the tires from the start even with dry pavement. Cheap to produce is all they care about.
.GOV is really screwing us here in the states and the car companies just bend over and take it. Of course part of that is because they depend on the .GOV teet to give them money.

Dodge, Freightliner and Mercedes have a gazillion of these Euro vans. They have a nice high top and they seem to be a good hardworking vehicle.
The Econoline is a great van but it's a dinosaur. It's no different than Ford having never evolved past the 1996 model F-series trucks.

The reason that van is coming here is because of CAFE mandates by the government. Anyway I was for the most part commenting on state of Europe and my lack of desire to have it in the states.
Ford can be improving existing models. Instead they let several models untouched for over a decade, complained why they are not desirable to the customer and then give them the axe. Some are not replaced some are marginally replaced with a .GOV approved version.
At least GM and Nissan still offer a van similar to the discontinued E-Series. (For now anyway)

MPG's are the name of the game right now. I don't blame Ford for trying a new vehicle considering the success of the aforementioned Euro vans.
