My 1950 Mercury was used briefly in Moon Shine Highway, i also worked on the set. If any of you have seen this movie. there is a part where Kyle Mcglaclin's Stand in Stunt man drives a 1952 Lincoln into 2 1957 Chev police cars blocking the road and turned both of them 180 degrees, that actually happened, he hit those cars at about 60 MPH.
Then the 49 Merc coupe that blew up that was real I towed that car into the blowup zone by cable hooked to pulleys same principal as a clothes line. The top blew right off the Merc they used 5 lbs of black powder in that sceen, my ears rang for days.

I use to own a black 56 F100 that was used in a late 80's Mustang GT commercial. The commercial showed the black Mustang GT flying through some country roads and the guy in the pickup pulls up and asks "which way did he go". Ford payed $1500 to use the truck for that commercial back then. I looked through U-tube for the commercial but couldn't find it.

The phone booth and truck were props for the movie, I guess, but the abandoned store's still there. The location is waaaay out in the country, but just a few miles from my house. That filming 35 yrs ago was a big deal when I was a kid. Wow, I haven't thought about that in years, I wonder who's truck it was? Now I have a "recreate the scene" photo op idea !

Well I learned something new with google maps. I wanted to see if I could find the location. I started with your town. I quickly realized it would be near impossible to find it from your description.
So, I typed in the search Rainman phone booth and it came up with the location.
