Differences between 46 and 47

I just bought two cabs and front clips, a 46 and a 47. I noticed the 46 hood has the FORD script stamped in the hood and the 47 had an emblem. Which style is more desirable to collectors?

I also read in an earlier post about some differences in the floorpans between the lighter duty and heavy duty trucks. I am in need of a floorpan for my 46, it was a dump truck originally, Will any truck floor pan work?

I am going to graft this on my mudtruck, so being totally correct is not a concern.

I also see the 46 has a heater on the passenger side, the louvers still work and the face rotates too. Are these rare at all?

Check out the pics in my gallery titled "46 & 47" I bought everything for $355.00 !!!

Differences between 46 and 47

Differences between the '46 and '47 are very very few. The hood is not different, both years had the Ford logo stamped onto the sides. The only year to use the emblem was the '42's. I would think the hood w/ emblem would only be of use to somebody who needs a '42 hood. The only major diff's between '46 and '47 was the wiring and the wire loom exits and a different place ont eh firewall, that's about it. As for the floor pans, I can't really say, but as far as I know the entire truck cab is nearly identical between light and heavy duties.

Is the 42 the same body style as the 46 &47? The hood with the emblem is otherwise identical to the stamped hood.

Thank you for the reply.

The 42-47 trucks are the same, same body, everything. The hood is the same, except for the emblem, that was a '42 only thing.

Is there any way to tell exactly what year this truck is without any data plates? I have only a cab, no frame ect.

Also on my 46, the rating plate says 13,500# This was a dump truck originally but was the chassis a 1 1/2 ton? or bigger?

There's no real easy way to tell the differences betweenthe years. The only thing I have seen is the '47's have the wire loom exiting closer to the side of the firewall than the '46's, but that could have been a mid '47 change. Other than that they are pretty much identical. The rating plate you have sounds like a heavy model, probably 1.5 or 2 ton.
