Someone else mentioned this and showed me a site of where these are sold, I need to call on Mon for some clarification, their pictures look like it is a different kind of battery, specialty battery, your desc. makes it sound like something I place onto my existing battery, which is it please? Cost ( approx ) would be nice as well

It looks just like a regular battery.lower right corner,in picture. It states that switch comes with battery,to change from 6-12 volts about $225.This price is about 4 years old. middle second up is just the 6-12 battery for $145.

It might be worth signing up on the HAMB and asking over there. Our trucks are among the last using vacuum wipers so many of the guys over there have fab'd up wipers from more modern stuff. Hokey *** Message Board - THE H.A.M.B.

Wow, thats kinda what I thought, it is an entire battery, doesnt seem like its going to be the best alternative for my situation but thank-you for taking the time to post the info anyway, I am also curious about longevity.

Thanks, I do have the question posted on another hot rod board and will wait to see what sort of a response I get there.

Thanks for the info, I have some older cars and have been recommended a battery tender and will have to go ahead and make the purchase. I have not heard a downfall to these.

Add a 6-volt lug to the battery?

In days of old when 12-volt batteries first came out, we could still get six volts by putting a screw into the middle of the top of the battery. The screw went into the link connecting the individual cells of the battery.

Would this still work??

I have read about this as well, on a sidenote I guess I forgot to add here that I went ahead and purchased this Ron Francis Wiring Voltage Reducers VR4 - SummitRacing.com From what I have heard it will do what I want it to do and then some, tired of screwing around with this wiper so I disregarded the cost

This set up was made by Lucas (q jokes about Lucas electrics being made of smoke) and fitted to many UK cars in the 60s and 70s. It was used in minis, jags, vauxhalls and probably a few others

It's easy to fit and modify to suit as its cable drive so the motor can be mounted out of the way, gives 2 speeds with auto park, The tubes are easily cut to adjust spacing between the wipers

All parts are available new

I've used one in my truck, there are a few pic's in my gallery
