died @ 85,000 miles, well sorta?

On new years eve I was driving down the highway and started to notice a slight vibration above 2500 rpm as I pressed on the accelerator to maintain speed up a slight incline, felt a lot like out of balance tires. I let off the accelerator and it stopped, eased back into the pedal and it came back. I looked at the info screen on the dash, no messages or warnings. I eased the accelerator as I topped the incline began a slight descent to see if the vibration was related to speed, rpm or turbo boost. I found that vibration was present anytime the turbo boost went above 10 psi. I let off the accelerator and took the next off ramp. As I came to a stop the engine was noticeable louder and running rough, still no warnings on the dash. As I gently accelerated to get through the traffic circle the engine continued rough and louder than normal. It sounded and felt like one or two injectors had failed. Pulled off the road and shut it off, towed it back into town and dropped it off at the dealer Wednesday morning. Waiting for more info from dealer.

Just called the dealer and they said that there are some major problems with the motor and that they would have to take it apart to find out what went wrong.

I wiil post any new info. I am glad this is under warrantee and wouldn't think it is bad fuel. I really thought I had dodged the bullet and had.one of the great trucks, since this is the first hiccup the truck has had. You just never know.

Not good. You have a job 1, too.
My job 1 engine has been problem free but I have wondered if I have any of those faulty components in there.
Doesn't sound like a bad fuel failure to me either. Those seem to be quiet killers.

I would argue this point. I think that every one of them are great trucks, but even the best engineered vehicle can break, and it sounds like you were one of the unfortunate ones. Doesn't mean that it's not a great truck though!

Look at the bright side, you may be getting a shiny new engine. I for one would love a fresh engine at that point!

I am right there with you, sorry for not being clear. I meant that I had one of the trucks w/out a fault or faulty component, especially one that would kill the motor. And I am pretty stoked about a new engine if that is where this ends up. I am not always the best at picking words, just ask my wife and kids.I would still do it over and buy another.
