Granny Low

Happy New Year Folks!

I have a 1965 F250 with a 352, and a 4spd. It's got plenty of problems, but I've been using it haul brush and branches after Hurricane Sandy. While I'm trying to track down a title for this truck I'd like to find a way to add some pep to the old girl. What can I do to get away from this Granny Low, and get a bit of speed from the old girl???

If all you're looking to do is skip the 1st gear in your shift pattern, then do it. You can start off in 2nd gear if you want- it just takes a little higher RPM & more intentional clutch work to get the truck moving from a dead stop.

"Granny low" generally refers to a very slow gear that's intended to be used when pulling or hauling heavy loads that push the capacity of the truck.

I'd recommend you go to our 67-72 forum for that year truck- I'm sure you'll find better info there. This forum is for 87-96 ford trucks.
