I ordered my new gears for my rear end today and they asked how many spline it has. I am fairly certain it was 19 for my stock 1953 f100. My truck is in storage an hour away so I can't check it. Is it 19 spline? Thanks!

 

My truck is not where I can check but my notes say the axles are 19 spline and the yoke is ten spline, ah i am the least qualified guy around so maybe get a second opinion. This is something I'm planning I have 53 f-100 with ford-o-matic running stock 3.92 gears and I want to drop to 3.55. here is my note...
(The 3.92&up ratio case has a different offset ring gear seat than the 3.73&down ratio case, if you do not want to buy a new case, you will need to find a used 3.07-3.73 Dana 44 case for use with 19 spline case)

I'm glad I saw your post bk53...I did some research and found that I need a new carrier, New yoke, u bolt kit and different races and bearings because I also had the carrier for the 3.92 and up.

 

I can't wait to see what this does for your top end or highway drive-ability.

Same here Bill. It sounds like we have about the same truck. I have 3.92 gears along with the fordomatic and the 239 flathead. Everything is basically stock. I am going with 3.08 gears because I want a nice cruiser that gets decent fuel mileage. I keep you posted.

 

You'll also need new spider gears to go with the new carrier. Who did you order from? Only a couple of places sell 19-spline spiders that work in the newer carriers.
