Yes, I could make one out of a shovel, but its a whole lot easier just to buy a flat. I have the bending die and rivet jigs so it would not be hard.

Here is a guy who did it.

Just imagine showing up to the range and saying "yeah, I made it out of a shovel"

Can you make me a spare receiver??

Hmm, probably should have eaten a little more with that *cough* sparkling white grapejuice from the Champagne region of France *cough, cough*.

If the receiver is folded then it is a firearm and has to go through an FFL, but yeah if you want one.

That's all good with me. I'd be looking at buying an AR or AK receiver at the moment if the prices weren't so outrageous at the moment. How much would one set me back?

The AMD receiver for the rifle I pictured is $35.00, add 10 for the rails.

AN AR-15 receiver is around $90.

That would be for a stripped receiver.

- buy an ar-15 now if you can. If you can only swing a stripped receiver do it. If another ban comes like in 94-2004 then the prices will be astronomical.

Hmm, that doesn't seem to bad. How much would it probably cost me to put the rest together?

Don't think I could find a stripped AR receiver for $90 right now. Seems like most are going for $150-200+

For an AR15. Prices are probably low for right now though.

Lower parts kit $60
Buffer tube/stock $75
Upper receiver w/ bolt carrier group starts at @ $425 or so. $500 is more common.

The lower is the gun. Uppers can be bought online and shipped to your door.

For an AK
Parts kit less receiver $400
Rivet kit $10
Misc USA required parts $100

Ouch.

Still, though. $35 isn't bad at all, and I like the AK (wood furniture!) anyway. I even have a spare shovel head in the shed if it would work

It can be done a bit cheaper, but it's always a good idea to get as complete and high grade kit as you can. I could probably build one complete for $350 but it wouldnt be a numbers matching build.

Yeah, that's true. No point in cheaping out and paying for it later. Post a few pics of your receiver you make and I'll see if I can dig the cash up.

Calling it a night. Have a good one.

You never know what the topic will be in VA!

Are you replacing the AK with something or just clearing out the safe some?
