Hey any help here need to make a decision!

Ok today on my way to work, I noticed a 1978-1979 short bed for sale. Ill try to describe the truck as BEST as I can since I didn't take any pics. Now I don't know if the truck is a 1979 or a 1978 or if its a F100 or F150 since the truck was getting worked on and mirrors, chromes, everything was removed.

The truck is a short bed with 2 fuel tanks, no dents except for one minor one, door panels in almost excellent condition, other panels in good shape no rust, inside the engine compartment all the rust, stains, and grease has been cleaned and restored, engine hasn't been messed with (you can tell), the truck has had A LOT of work done, restored frame, restored front suspension, restored rear suspension and new fuel tanks. The body was getting worked on but still needs little work to get it ready for paint. The interior is the only part it still needs work, they only restored the dash, the rest needs work, it has no carpet, they added a small "metallic plate" on the drivers side floor don't know what for, the ceiling its bare metal(plastic was removed) and some other minor details.

I got a chance to try the truck out, it turned on on the first try without any issues, engine sounds clean too and without knowing I was going 60 down the road without issues. Since the truck was obviously taken apart, break, and signal lights don't work, the guy said the wires need to be re-connected.

Overall the truck looks good, I'm a little concerned with the metal plate on the drivers side floor..

The guy is asking $2300 now does it sound like a good deal? I'm heading again tomorrow to check it out ill try to get some pics(all chromes for the trucks exterior are included)

The little metallic plate is covering a hole that has rusted through the floor. You need to look very closely at the lower sections of the doors, the rear cab corners and the tops of the rear wheel wells. You're looking for signs of rust.
If the truck is in good shape $2300 isn't a bad deal.

Even though it looks clean, look for recent signs of paint over spray anywhere. Clean may mean cover up. A little paint could cover up some rust spots that could be a helluva issue in the future. Investigate with due process. Just cause you said the engine looked clean it could have been cleaned to cover up leaks. Scour that engine bay for signs of a cover up. You have to be a mean and nasty detective and expect to find bad stuff one may miss just by glancing. Definatly get some time under the cab with a good flashlight. After all, it's your money, don't you want to spend it wisley? If you inspect it properly then feel it's worth the price, snag it up.
