01 Super Duty: Radio Question
Hello,
I have a 2001 Super Duty. I have the factory A/M-F/M radio with two speakers. I want to install a new radio but to keep it simple and cheap, I want to install a factory radio that would have been an option on my truck for the year. I want a CD player, and have been looking on eBay at factory radios but the plugs on the back look different than my plug. Which factory radio do I need? I'd also like to add rear speakers and want a radio that can have four speakers (can my current radio have four speakers?).
Please let me know.

You need an adapter plug so the wires won't have to be spliced. The rear speaker wires should be run you just have to put the speakers in. You also need an adapter plate in the front because the old radio will be bigger than the new one.
It might be better for you to go to Best Buy or somewhere like that sometimes they have free installation specials.

My 09 F250 was built with just the AM/FM, but when I bought it used, someone had swapped that for the 6CD unit from an '08.
However, the CD was broken - it still had CDs from the previous owner in it.
I went to Crutchfield and bought a Sony that has all the features I need. They also helped me choose the correct adapter.
