older 4.6 engine fit the new body style??????

I have a friend that has a blown 4.6 engine in a 2004 f150. Everywhere we look it say 04-05 engine new body style only. But as I look at the block from the older 4.6 they look the same. Every salvage yard is saying the same thing about the 04-05. So can some please tell me what's the different in the older 4.6 vs. the new body style.

You can fit the newer in the old , Or something like that ! Some have different sensors and locations. I have run across that in crown vics with the 4.6 .I do not remember which , but they will not interchange ! I work on a fleet of these , I should remember !

not worried about the sensors and stuff more concern about the mounts because some say the mounts are different and it won't work. just trying to get the correct answer.

Not aware of any mount issue . A good salvage yard should be able to inform you .
