Oil filter help 460 FI

Fellow 460 owners I need some help and advice. On my 460 (info is in my signature) I was wondering if there was an adapter to put the filter 90 degrees instead of 45 degrees. I want to put the filter straight up and down. Every time I do an oil change on my truck I lose almost have the oil because the filter is too far to the side.

I always install them empty. With a good oil pump your engine won't be dry for long. I also remove them slowly with a drain pan directly under before I drain the oil from the filter. Don't completely remove it until it's drained all it can on it's side.

Someone makes a remote mount kit. Google should find that for ya. You could just put less oil in the filter or none like Pfogle said.

Transdapt makes a kit for remote filter. Screw on the adapter, make up the hoses and mount the filter anywhere.

When doing an oil change, I just splash a touch of oil in the top(to oil the threads), and some to swish around the top to oil the o-ring then screw it on. If you are still unsure about dry start up, unhook the coil wire and crank for a few seconds. I don't worry about it. Just hit it and within a few seconds you'll have oil pressure. There is enough oil in the system to survive a start up. Might tap for a second, but not a problem.

If removing it causes a mess, then take a small screwdriver and knock a small hole in the bottom and drain it first. Then unscrew it.

Also, there is a Ford swivel adapter they used in Vans. Removed the thread insert that filter screws onto. The adapter then threads into block. You can rotate the adapter around to any position.
